Not only was I running before sunrise this morning but I was home and showered before sunrise. OK, I only ran two miles but it was a good workout. I'd taken a page from the late Ed Whitlock's book and ran round the local cemetery. The old part of the cemetery is on a slope that's intersected by seven paths between the gravestones. I found it ideal for short hill reps, running hard up one path and jogging down the next, all the way to the end.
Then back again.
Cemetery workout |
Although hardly daylight I was surprised to find I wasn't alone in the gloom. A Personal Trainer was already there with one of his clients doing step-ups onto a kerb. I've seen him before, mostly putting plump ladies through their paces, hopping sideways, running backwards or doing press-ups on the grass beside the graves. And they pay him for this?
I think I've missed my way.
Well done for those efforts, impressive for the time of day and! Hill reps! My running grounded as Plantar Faciitis seems to have taken hold at the moment, so cycling only for me. Can only hope rest will shift it!
ReplyDeleteLovely blog on Menorca by the way.
Felt really good after those efforts Ian, must do that session again. Plantar Fascitis grounded me for a while too. Various exercises, rest and anti-inflammatories failed to shift it. Finally, my doctor gave me a cortisone injection, very painful, but it took it away almost immediately.
DeleteMenorca is a beautiful island, my pictures hardly do it justice....
Cheers!
About cemetery workout , last winter with my 2nd claim club Ilkley H. doing the torch run through Ilkley graveyard along side the river , we liked it and often we went to the cemetery do some workout , and I really liked the place so I bought a plot for the future . Antonio Otley AC.
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't buy a plot in Almondbury cemetery Antonio, a lot of knocked over monuments and crosses, neglected and sunken graves. But the paths are OK for running. Hebden cemetery is cosy and compact. I might have a little plaque there, among my friends...
DeleteBefore sunrise? That's very impressive. It's 9:30 here and I'm still thinking about my run. :)

Hi Barbara, great to hear from you again. Hope you've got your running mojo back. Picked up the habit of early runs on a visit to Menorca where it was too hot to run after breakfast. Never thought I'd enjoy it but now I prefer it - at my age!
DeleteRunning before sunrise, now that is impressive.
ReplyDeleteHappy October Wishes
All the best Jan
...and back home before sunrise Jan. Now that is unusual......
DeleteWell done Gordon - good to see you out and about again.
ReplyDeleteThanks Martin, but my out and abouts could never compare with your globe-trotting ones! Keep on keeping on.....
