It wasn't easy climbing out of bed at 3.45am but a cup of strong coffee and a spoonful of positive thinking soon had me lacing up my running shoes. Two young girls, members of Vegan Runners, got me to the top of Castle Hill in time for the sumrise.
Many folk were there before us, most of whom had driven there judging by the number of cars parked at the summit.
Most were well wrapped up, some complaining of the cold, so an 88 year old figure in running shorts was causing more attention than I liked. Energised by the sun's magic I made an invigorating run for home.
Breakfast was a little earlier than usual!
Well done , you are inimitable Gordon. Antonio
ReplyDeleteBeautiful and good for you for being out there running. I'm sure you impressed those younger folk! :)
ReplyDeleteBrilliant!
ReplyDeleteThe only time I ever seem to be up in time to see the sunrise is each September around the Autumn Equinox when I'm at Druridge Bay - taking part in the North-east Skinny Dip ;-) to raise money for MIND.
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the sunrise from the top of a local hill but it rises too early at this time of year, usually a good bit before me!
DeleteThe only places I've skinny dipped were remote pools in mountain rivers with never more than one for company!
That certainly was an early start!
ReplyDeleteWell worth it though … beautiful photographs.
All the best Jan
I normally walk the ten miles to Alderley Edge, stealth camp overnight (to be sure of being there for sunrise)and walk home after sunrise. Not this year though - the car was pressed into service.
ReplyDeleteOh well, hopefully things will be back to normal, whatever that is, next year.
